Viva Las Vegas

Hello everyone. I hope this post finds you all well. I have just arrived back in Australia after 3 weeks in the USA. I started off in San Francisco and then spent nearly 2 weeks in Las Vegas. My husband slipped and hurt is back and I ventured to the craft stores and Viva Las Vegas Stamps it was probably a good thing I was on my own as I spent lots of money. Whilst in Las Vegas I had an absolutely fantastic couple of days with Laura Canale, (aka Lov'n life n Vegas on SCS). Laura would have to be one of the nicest most gorgeous people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. We had such a nice girly day. Then we had a Barbeque at her home the next day.

Not only did we do Lunch we also did morning tea. We also went to the Local scrapbook store where Laura teaches card making classes. Before long our day was over. It just went so fast. Time really does fly when you have fun.

We still had a chance to catch up the next night for dinner and here is Laura and I in her kitchen.

Just One Layer

When was the last time you made a card that was a single layer? That long ago huh! You probably don't remember when it was. Am I right?
Well let me tell you that I am no different. But a couple of days ago I made this little beauty.
My Favorite Things guest designer challenge was to create a single layer card. You could use as many embellishments that you like etc, BUT no extra paper.
I stamped all images in Black Colorbox ink and embossed all of them with clear powder.
I then coloured them in using those fabulous Lyra watercolour crayons from Heavenscent Crafts and then I added some stickles glitter too add a little BLING to the card.
Last but not least I pulled out my Black Millennium pen and hand drew the lines and dots around the edge. The frame gave the card a more finished off feel to it.
Do a little experiment yourself: stamp and colour an image and then do it again this time adding your own frame. Compare the difference, it's huge. It's only scary the first time you do it, besides it is only paper. If you mess it up it's not the end of the world.

Lots of Exciting News

HELLO everyone, where do I start?

Anyone who knows me knows just how much I LOVE the stamps from Flourishes and My Favorite Things.

Well guess what?? They are now available in Australia. In less than 24 hours (1st November 9am) the site will be launched. It is called Heavenscent Crafts. Now Debbie who owns the store is such a doll, she is also stocking lots of other unique stamps not found anywhere else in Australia, companies like High Hopes Stamps, Magnolia Stamps, Stampavie just to name a few.

The other great news is that Debbie has asked me to join her new design team. So you will see my cards on the website plus on the display boards at craft shows and in her Melbourne store.

Here are a couple of my cards that you will see in the gallery.

*The Siberian Iris card is from Flourishes, Designer Paper in this card is from KaiserCraft

**The Bath card is from My Favorite Things (MFT) Designer paper is Basic Grey "Euphoria"

***The Get well card is also MFT. Designer paper is CollagePress Doubletakes.

All images are stamped on to whisper white from SU, All plain cardstock is Bazzill.

All images are coloured using Prismacolor Pencils.

Michelle's Hint #2

Re-Ink your inkpads regularly, Most of my cards are stamped with Black Brilliance. I will re ink my pad approx every 2 weeks to keep the colour topped up and 'lush'. If I am making lots of cards sometimes I do it each week. There is nothing worse than an image that is 'wishy washy'. It really lowers the quality of your card.

Pamper Yourself

Pamper yourself.... Have a bath with a glass of wine. YES!!! one of 'My Favorite Things' to do. This stamp set .. I just love it. It's called Time for the Bubbly and it's from you guessed it ...My Favorite Things.

This was the first set I ever bought and it is still one I keep pulling out and using over and over again .The card above was made using Blue Bayou and Soft Sky cardstock. The designer papers are from Basic Grey's 2 scoops 6"x6" pad. The Bath is stamped onto Whisper white card and colored using Prismacolor pencils. Last but not least I have added stickles to enhance the bubbles and make them sparkle

This second card is also colored with Prismacolor pencils and I have used Bazzill criss cross cardstock .These Designer Papers are from Making Memories.

Let's Do Lunch

Every week Cindy comes up with wonderful ideas and then puts out a card sketch challenge for the 'My Favorite Things' Forum on SCS. This is sketch MFTSC44.
The stamp set is "Meet me at the cafe", by My Favorite Things.
This is such a terrific layout, I had so much fun making this card.
First I stamped the image on white cardstock, in Black Brilliance Ink then coloured the table, chairs, wine glasses and the arms and legs of the girls.
After deciding on Inque Boutique's pad of Designer 6"x 6" Paper . I stamped out parts of the image to get the girls some designer clothing (great fabric choices don't you agree) .
I cut out the dress, boots, skirt and top from several different sheets . A little fiddly but certainly not hard to do and i think it was worth it. After cutting out I simply glued the clothing on the main stamped image. I stamped the sentiment in black Brilliance , then cut all the ovals for the sentiment with the nestabilities.Next step was to layer everything together and presto!! I think this is really sweet card.
Other Embellishments I used include Prima flowers, paper lace, pink pearls, a flower brad and the cardstock is all from Stampin Up.
I just love these stamps. I can't wait for my new order to arrive.
