Baby Elephant

Today I have made a baby card made using one of Magnolia Stamps's relatively new animal stamps. As you can see this is the Elephant, my other favourite is the Lion.
The elephant was stamped and embossed using Brilliance black ink and polysparkle (clear powder with glitter) embossing powder. Today I chose to watercolour using my Lyra crayons.
I then proceeded to cut him out and layer onto the purple oval then the green scalloped oval (both card colours from Stampin Up). I then layered using designer papers from a DCVW (boy) Nursery 12"x12" Paper Pad.
To finish off I added a few kaisercraft and prima flowers with rhinestones in the centre.

Who likes Popcorn?

Popcorn the Bear that is.
Isn't he just adorable. This is one of the cutest, most gorgeous teddy bear stamps I have ever seen. He comes in several different sets all of which you will want to own.

This is the birthday hugs set, but I think not only does it make a great birthday card but what do you think about a baby card? I think it would be fabulous.

The good news is for all my local stampers in Canberra, Popcorn is coming to town at the end of October, so start saving your pennies. I will show you another Popcorn the Bear creation in the coming weeks so keep "Popping" back.

Pretty Peacock

Another week another challenge, This card is for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge #32. This week was a sketch challenge designed by Cindy.
Here is the sketch, you might like to give it a go yourself.For my card I used the Flourishes Peacock, stamped in Black Brilliance. I then coloured the bird using my Prismacolor Pencils and blended with Odourless mineral spirits. The card stock is all Bazzill. A very easy card to make.

Somebirdy Special

Hi everyone,

Here is a sweet little card made using 2 of Magnolia's new stamps, This is 'Tilda with birdcage' and the sentiment ' For somebirdy special'.

The images have been stamped and embossed using black pigment ink and sparkly black embossing powder. I have chosen today to colour with my Lyra watercolour crayons.

I love these crayons as they can give you a great combination of muted or stronger more vibrant colours. They are very easy to use and due to their blending capabilities you can easily turn your set of 48 colours into 100's of different shades.

I find watercolour best with an embossed image so I can keep my colours defined. With a non embossed edge the colours will tend to run together. (Sometimes with simple designs eg. brush flowers, this is ideal, but not for today's style of image.)

Stampavie Stamps

Stampavie is currently looking for a new Design Team member and I thought why not try out and put my name in the hat. The line of stamps are very cute, great for colouring, but the different artists have very different styles. Here I have pictured 2 of the artists, Sarah Kay and Rachel Anne Miller
Isn't this little girl just beautiful, This stamp is called Picnic of Daisies. I created this card with a very country feel to it. I have coloured this card in using Prismacolor Pencils on Confetti Cream cardstock the designer paper is from Crate Paper

Next we have 2 cards of Lily and Milo, This stamp looks quite different in the 2 colour schemes. I had lots of fun working on these cards. This time I coloured using watercolor crayons. They make colouring quick and easy. They are fabulous to use.

Sunset Iris

Happy New Year Everyone. I hope this post finds you all well. It has been such a hectic time of year and now things are starting to slow down a little, this is good because it gives me time to stamp and create, it also gives me time to blog and catch up with friends all over the world. I am back on the forums and have decided to kick the year off with a very bright and cheery card. I was lacking a little bit of design inspiration so I went back through the cards sketch challenges and came up with this beauty.
This card was made for the Flourishes Tuesday Chat Challenge over on SCS. The challenge was to make a square card with a flower on it. Yes pretty simple but exactly what I needed to get back into the swing of things.
First I embossed the Flourishes Siberian Iris in Silver metallic EP on watercolour paper.
I then watercoloured the Iris using my brand NEW Lyra watercolour Crayons (my Christmas gift to myself). They are fabulous, stunning, gorgeous and easy to use.
In this close up you can see how easily the colours have blended together.
I matched the watercolours to the designer paper I had chosen. (DP is by Cosmo Cricket, cardstock is Core-dinations). I then cut everything to size, cut circles with the classic nestabilities and layered it all together.

Whilst I was on holidays over Christmas I spent the day stamping with Deb at Heavenscent Crafts, She showed me these wonderful Lyra Crayons and as they say the rest is history.

My wish is for High Hopes

I just love this image from High Hopes Rubber Stamps It is called Oops Ellie. High Hopes Rubber Stamps are now available in Australia at Heavenscent Crafts and I have a wish list about a mile long. Unfortunately I do not yet own any of these wonderful stamps, This image of Ellie was lent to me by a lovely friend named Pam. (Thanks Pam). I spent the day with Pam and her friend Pat teaching them to colour in using Prismacolor pencils. When I coloured in this elephant Blue I had no idea what I was going to do with him. A couple of days later I walked into my local stamp store and found this terrific designer paper by Australian designer Rachel Greig. It is from her Darkroom Door Range of products.
On the same day as buying the paper I was looking at the High Hopes Blog and saw the challenge to create a card using both Brads and Buttons. And Viola my card came to life. I hope you enjoy this card as much as I do. I was really pleased with the final outcome. I hope to feature some High Hopes Images over the next couple of weeks.

Rachel Anne Miller stamp

Here is a stamp sent to me from Deb at Heaven Scent Crafts. It is from Stampavie and is designed by Rachel Anne Miller. She has a whole range just like this adorable image. I have done it in 2 different colour themes and I think each one looks completely different. This first image (top) has been layered using Designer Papers from Euphoria by Basic Grey. I have coloured in both images using Prismacolor Pencils.
This card is embellished with flowers
that have been set with
eyelets, just to be a little different



This bottom card is done in Earthy tones and the designer paper is unknown. It's amazing how much different the card looks by accenting the image in a circle.

Lots of Exciting News

HELLO everyone, where do I start?

Anyone who knows me knows just how much I LOVE the stamps from Flourishes and My Favorite Things.

Well guess what?? They are now available in Australia. In less than 24 hours (1st November 9am) the site will be launched. It is called Heavenscent Crafts. Now Debbie who owns the store is such a doll, she is also stocking lots of other unique stamps not found anywhere else in Australia, companies like High Hopes Stamps, Magnolia Stamps, Stampavie just to name a few.

The other great news is that Debbie has asked me to join her new design team. So you will see my cards on the website plus on the display boards at craft shows and in her Melbourne store.

Michelle's Hint #2

Re-Ink your inkpads regularly, Most of my cards are stamped with Black Brilliance. I will re ink my pad approx every 2 weeks to keep the colour topped up and 'lush'. If I am making lots of cards sometimes I do it each week. There is nothing worse than an image that is 'wishy washy'. It really lowers the quality of your card.
